Joosed! Junior Drinks Giveaway

The wonderful people at Bensons the Juicers recently contacted me to see whether Pumpkinella would like to try their new range of children juice drinks. I find it difficult to get her to drink anything other than milk and that can cause problems because she’s also a fussy eater and only eats white food at the moment. I know Pumpkinella loves fruit so the big question was how she would handle a bottle of fruit juice, something she’s been shunning for over 6 months now. I needn’t have been concerned though because as soon as she saw the bottles, she […]

7 Reasons to visit Bluestone

This year, I was fortunate enough to get the chance to take a holiday with one of my oldest and dearest friends. Being someone who lives for holidays I was very excited at the prospect of my first group family holiday. Before becoming a mother, I loved city breaks.  Wondering the streets in search of local food haunts and unique sights were the main things on my agenda. However, now I have 2 and a half-year old  daughter who is energetic and impatient; this has slowly but surely led our traditional style of holidays in a different direction. The things I look […]

Hosting your WordPress site

Mess with your hosting and domain name provider at your peril. My web site went down for over a week and then was up and down intermittently over the couple of weeks after that. But why do you care? Well my contract was up for renewal with 1 and 1 and my last bill was a massive 5x more than my first year’s bill. As they generate the bills they also take out the money automatically using the bank details you have to give them when you first sign-up. I was shocked to see the prices so much more than when i originally signed up so […]

What’s your motivation for blogging?

I’ve struggled to get a post out lately. There are so many things going on in my head and to do with my circumstances but finding a balance between what I feel I can share with my not-so-many readers, and what should remain personal and private is very difficult. There’s been a fantastic holiday with the family which I’ll definitely be writing about in due course.  Currently though I’m having a low period emotionally and can’t seem to find my happy. During times like this I question whether Pumpkinella.com should be what I always envisaged, a place for inspiration and […]

Avoid writing bad blog posts

I’ve read a lot of articles lately about how to manage a good blog, gain readers and improve your network. It seems like there is just so much to learn and countless things you need to do to get more people looking at your blog. However there aren’t many places to go to for advice on managing a blog while working full-time and looking after a boddler (baby/ toddler) and a husband. This combination creates a degree of uncertainty about when your next post will come and how you’re going to tell enough people about it to get them to come […]

The Liebster Award

I’ve noticed comments and tweets about Liebster Awards over the last couple of months and really didn’t have much of an idea about it. I assumed that the people who won them were from the elite ‘tots100’ type communities. And then it happened to me, I was nominated for a Liebster Award by @Mumwithbrain and again shortly after by @firstooth ,  @_rainflower and @scandimummy. I was elated and humbled that anyone reads what I have to say and is interested in knowing more about me. I’ve since read a bit more on the Liebster Award and am such a fan of […]
