7 Reasons to visit Bluestone

This year, I was fortunate enough to get the chance to take a holiday with one of my oldest and dearest friends. Being someone who lives for holidays I was very excited at the prospect of my first group family holiday. Before becoming a mother, I loved city breaks.  Wondering the streets in search of local food haunts and unique sights were the main things on my agenda. However, now I have 2 and a half-year old  daughter who is energetic and impatient; this has slowly but surely led our traditional style of holidays in a different direction. The things I look […]

From toddler to mini dictator

It’s begun – from toddler to mini dictator! Pumpkinella is now 2 years and 7 months old and has really come into her own. We can have sensible conversations where we’ll discuss the things she’d like to eat, what games she’d like to play and how her day has gone when I pick her up after returning from work. Or fun things she’d like to do during the day. During these conversations I’m amazed at her rate of development. She’s already worked out sarcasm, to my detriment and often makes comments where I’m left wondering which adult she’s learnt them […]

Is a Mark Warner holiday good for toddlers?

Is a Mark Warner holiday suitable for toddlers? I’ve tried and failed to answer this question for some time now. If you’ve read my last post about searching for suitable holidays for our family of three, you’ll have read about my mission to find the most suitable style of holiday to meet all our needs. Pumpkinella, at 21 months old now, wants to play, eat, watch television and play when and where she wants to. On the other hand, when I’m on holiday, I love to spend a few days just shopping, till my legs are sore or till i run out of […]

Where to go on holiday with a toddler

I’ve really put the hours in for this year’s family holiday. I’ve been through and am still going checking the local suspects of travel web sites in search for just the right amount of excitement and relaxation for our 2 + 1 family. I’ve found lots of beautiful hotels and apartments but my jaw has dropped to see the prices being quoted for family style package holidays. With 27 days leave still left to take over the next 7 months I’m desperate to get away with the family and relax a little, away from day-to-day work (at home and at […]

Forget terrible two’s – let’s welcome awesome two’s!

My baby girl is 21 months old this August and I can’t believe how time has flown by. She’s full of laughter and adventure and loves to be around other children. She adds several new words to her vocabulary every single day and her diction is near perfect. I don’t know how we got so lucky with such an amazing beauty. With the new-found independence has come a struggle to be heard and understood. I can see in her eyes when she wants me to acknowledge something she’s said but as much of her sentences are still incomprehensible, I find […]

Toddler-friendly fish goujons

I’ve been starting to get back into my love for cooking and these toddler-friendly fish goujons were part of my attempts to experiment with food I don’t normally make. They only took about 10 minutes to rustle up one evening after looking through the cupboards for something to feed Pumpkinella baby. At 18 months old, she’s developed a fussiness for textures so I thought I’d experiment with this. They were yum, at least I thought so, and she managed to have one which I believe is a mini miracle. The recipe is so simple (50g flour, 1 egg, 1 cod fillet cut into strips, coconut […]
